End of life is part of life. As much as we don’t want to think about losing our pets and our clients, end of life is an important and often undiscussed part of the pet profession. Often clients or coworkers look to us for answers, information, and support in trying and difficult times. Having a solid background in how to deal with various situations related to death and dying, can help those who rely on us. Good Dog is proud and honored to partner with eldercare and aftercare expert, Jodi Clock, to bring you a very important and unique online training course in dealing with end-of-life issues.
Jodi covers what’s actually available to pet owners now — mobile pet hospice, in-home euthanasia, and how those options change a family’s experience. She walks through what to do in the minutes after a death, how to handle a pet’s body, the real differences between burial and cremation, and how to help a family memorialize a pet afterwards. There’s a full section on grief, including how to talk about pet death with children, and one on compassion fatigue for the people who do this work every day.
Knowing the answers, and having somewhere to point people, is a genuine service to a client in the worst week of their year. Losing a pet is every bit as hard as losing any other member of the family.

“Jodi Clock knows more about eldercare than anyone else I know — and she cares about you…”
Ken Blanchard, coauthor of The New One Minute Manager and Refire! Don’t Retire
Jodi Clock of Clock Timeless Pets and Clock Funeral Homes has spent her career in eldercare and aftercare, for people
and for pets. She wrote Navigating the Eldercare Journey, and she teaches this material the way she talks to
families: plainly, without flinching, and without making you feel foolish for not knowing.
This course is eligible for 1 continuing education credit with the International Association of CanineRight after you buy, we’ll email you an invitation to create a password and log in to our online learning
system, where your course is waiting. Watch on any phone, tablet or computer, at your own pace.
This course deals with death, euthanasia and grief throughout. It’s written to be practical rather than
distressing, but it is frank, and it’s worth choosing your moment to watch it.
Jodi’s guidance is general education for pet professionals and pet owners. It isn’t veterinary, legal or
financial advice, and options for burial, cremation and aftercare vary by state and by provider.
For dog professionals
Good Dog started with two sisters — one a reward-based dog trainer, the other a homeschool mom who built corporate training online. Between them they kept needing materials that didn’t exist yet. Everything here came out of real lessons, real living rooms and real client conversations, and it’s built so you can put it to work rather than rewrite it first.
