Reward Based Dog Training Curriculum 4
Leave it, learning to leash walk inside, advanced down
This unit covers real life skills that dogs needs to learn to become productive members of their families. Leaving something harmful alone can save lives, so unit 4 includes several “Leave It” exercises. Leash walking moves outside with our double leash system (one leash for the adult and one for the child), as everyone learns how to walk together and be safe. Dog body language is an important part of training and dog safety for children. This guide features dog communication with the ears and can be used with the Dog Smart Card Game’s Whole Body Cards (sold separately). Dog Smart teaches dog bite prevention to all ages and will be used throughout Activity Guides 1 – 6. Food dispensing toys are a great reward for a job well done and also make a great job for dogs to work on. This unit works with Kong food dispensing toys and includes instructions on “how to stuff a Kong.” Additional activities in the Activity Guide include a Sudoku puzzle, a maze to help Royal find the Kong, and a finish the ending writing activity.
